Warmblood Gelding - Contracted Heels and Delamination

X is a Warmblood Grand Prix Dressage schoolmaster in his early 20’s. He had contracted, run forward heels, atrophied frogs and very poor quailty hoof wall which was crumbling and delaminating - the farrier didn’t want to nail him up.

We did two 8 week cycles in Formahoof, allowing his heels to relax and decontract, developing interal structures while providing protection and growing out poor quality hoof wall. He then went into glue-on composite shoes to continue and consolidate the changes we got in Formahoof.

We keep this horse shod in his composites to help protect his feet and joints on arena surfaces and hard ground.
