TB Gelding - Prolapsed Caudal Hoof

This TB gelding was in trouble with his collapsed hoof capsules and prolapsed caudal hoof. He had poor propreoception (awareness of where limbs are), and tripped alot, getting worse through the shoeing cycle as his toes got longer and frogs distended lower. unsupported in a rim shoe, his caudal hoof (frogs and digital cushion) were prolapsed downward, while his heels were crushed up and forwards.

We pulled the shoes and did one cycle in casts to keep him comfortable, and then went barefoot with paddded boots for protection during exercise (hand walking). He became much more aware of his feet and the tripping reduced significantly. At this point he was sold so we did not get to continue.
